Olive at Loch is not the only cafe in the village but it has a certain something which keeps drawing us back. There's a touch of the endearingly shambolic about the place and a passing resemblance to a Harry Potter set (possibly due to its handcrafted wooden handrails and the baskets and brooms on display outside).
Olive at Loch is different in that it allows her to combine her love for Melbourne's cafe scene with her passion for adventuring out of the city. Surrounded by rolling green hills and lush farmland, Olive at Loch is perfectly placed to serve local residents or travellers passing through.
Olive at Loch was supposed to be a semi-retirement plan. Sandra and Rob Gawn arrived in the sleepy town for a spot of camping in their green Kombi (named Olive) and decided to stay. They bought the cafe in 2014 and decided to replicate the part-shop, part-cafe model Sandra had previously operated in Sandringham, Melbourne.
Olive at Loch offers a variety of freshly cooked produce that is guaranteed to tempt the tastebuds. Using and stocking local produce where possible, Olive at Loch creates a variety of constantly changing sweet and savoury treats.
