M Yong Tofu, Flemington - The City Lane

The beef rendang is another hit - big chunks of wonderfully tender and intensely flavoured slow cooked beef with a generous serve of noodles and sprouts. The roti canai is a great choice to help mop up some of the sauces. M Yong Tofu's hot Teh Tarik also hit the spot, with that usual level of sweetness and a nice rich tea flavour.

Cooked to order, the food served here was incredibly fresh and tasty. Despite the level of Asian food in Flemington, with the likes of Laksa King and Chef Lagenda, M Yong Tofu definitely holds their own and offers a delicious feed at a very competitive price.The immediate area around Chinatown and CBD do provide much more appetising options at a more realistic price.

It's quite uncommon that you can go to a Malaysian restaurant for the first time, pick several things from the menu, and be very pleased with them all. Such was the case at M Yong Tofu. The high praise from the reviews was indeed well-founded. Tried a handful of dishes: the mee goreng, curry laksa, oyster omelette and homemade egg tofu.
