A series of fourteen weirs and locks have been established along the River Murray to regulate its water level and river flow. Lock 11. Completed in 1927, the construction of Lock 11 and Mildura Weir took a total of four years. An island was formed separating the lock from the weir. This is the only weir and lock of its kind on the river.
