Exceedingly soft, tender and juicy. This went rather well with their jerk sauce. Staff were very friendly and accomodating, allowing me to change mash to chips. The Mediocre
Dexter - milk and cookies. We ended on the milk and cookies. The choc chip cookies were freshly baked and went perfectly with a glass of cold milk. In fact, the weirder the dishes, the better. The pig's head buns and hot meat doughnuts have been hot favourites. As well as bar snacks and substantial meals, the Dexter menu also covers quick lunches, takeaway, kids' and set-course dining. This quirky take on an eat-in butcher might just be the new King of The North. We said it.
The signature item that anyone visiting Dexter needs to order is the meat doughnuts. It's what Dexter has become famous so and one bite will make you realise why. Batter is filled with burnt brisket ends, then deep-fried and dusted with paprika and sugar. The result is a moist, crispy, sweet and savoury delight.
Dexter is a classic people-pleaser. All of the food is backed by a smart little drinks list—think local wines, swizzled cocktails and craft beer on tap. We recommend the Sloe Gin Sour, made with sloe gin, Cointreau, lemon and aquafaba (the water you cook chickpeas in).
