The Herberton Mining Museum seeks to present and interpret information about the Great Northern site, the history of tin mining in the district and how the town of Herberton developed. The Herberton Mining Museum and Visitor Information Centre is situated in Herberton , the oldest town on the Tropical Tablelands 90 minutes west of Cairns Queensland Australia. The town sits on a hilly landscape with streets dotted with jacaranda trees. Herberton's main claim to fame was Tin Mining.

The Museum is open 7 days a week from 9.00 am - 4.00 pm, tel: (07) 4096 3474. The Visitor Information Centre, which is part of the Museum, has an extensive range of interesting A4 sheets on such things as the Herberton War Memorial, the Herberton Cemetery and a Heritage Walk which lists a total of 60 places of interest around the town.

02/07/2019 . Last Wednesday the Herberton Mining Museum welcomed delegates from the Tin and Tungsten Conference being held at Tinaroo. Delegates and speakers from all over the world came to visit our tin-famous town!
Herberton Mining Museum is located on the historic Great Northern Mine site where a tin-rush took place in 1880. Within a year over 150 mines were being worked and Herberton became the first town on the Tablelands.
