Lowies of Goomburra
2006 Inverramsay Rd, Goomburra QLD 4362, Australia
For Goomburra accommodation choices in South East Queensland, you can’t go past LOWIES of Goomburra. It is situated on a 50 hectare undulating woody-grassland property in the picturesque Goomburra Valley (even the dam has a slope on it). LOWIES bushland retreat is 5 kilometres from the magnificent Goomburra National Park.
It provides relaxing, clean and comfortable country accommodation. It is an easy 2 hour drive from the heart of Brisbane and a 1 hour drive from Toowoomba. It is a bitumen road all the way. There are 2 very comfortable and functional cabins which are sure to make your stay enjoyable and interesting. Both cabins are built from recycled materials collected from various buildings in the area.
A variety of bird life, wild flowers and rare native animals appear at various times of the year. Japanese style gardens have been established for almost 15 years. Many native shrubs and trees have also been planted.
There are 13 species of parrots, cockatoos and lorikeets to be spotted regularly. Itinerant visitors such as the crested hawk, glossy black cockatoos, spangled drongos appear only at certain times of the year. The wedge-tailed eagle is a common sight, whereas the phascogale being a night predator is seen less often.
Squirrel gliders, sugar gliders, ring-tailed possums along with tawny frogmouths frequent the tree tops at night on a regular basis. The large variety of frogs is testimony to the healthy environment that the property has to offer.
LOWIES coffee shop is open to guests and general public. At present it is open 9am until 4 pm Saturdays and Sundays. Again, built from a large amount of recycled materials, some 160 years old, the magnificent compact building oozes of character from yesteryear. You will surely be amazed at how it has all been melded together to make a unique building that will stand the test of time. It has been a three year project that has given my son and I a great amount of pleasure. In a few years when the gardens become established the shop will be quite an attraction to the area.
