This morning I visited the Garden of Tegan in Balberra, about thirty minutes south of Mackay city, where there was an open house for the recently established permaculture market garden. Tegan and her partner are now living their dream of growing organic food and are currently experimenting with different crops to gauge their suitability for commercial production.
Mackay couple Tegan McBride and Sean Farquhar have been developing an oversize market garden which they hope will eventually see them supply a variety of fruit and vegetables year-round. They call it the Garden of Tegan and they have only been at it for three months but the couple are determined to prove you can make a profit from just one hectare.
