Tybo, which in Shoshone means "white man's district" was first established in 1870 after initial gold ore discoveries were made in the Hot Creek Mountains in central Nevada. Tybo didn't truly boom into a proper town until 1874, when this once-modest mining camp transformed into a town with 1,000 people in a short amount of time, mostly made up of Irish, Cornish, and Chinese residents.
TYBO Art and Craft was founded in 2015 by Stinne Bo and her husband Nis Tyrrestrup, in close collaboration with Stinne's father Hans Bo, who is an experienced ceramist. The ceramics are a product of design and cooperation across generations and producing everything locally in Djursland and Copenhagen. TYBO Art and Craft is handmade stoneware focusing on shape and line, simplicity and nature.
#1 Tybo, Nevada Settlement Updated: 2020-02-23 Tybo is an unincorporated community in Nye County, Nevada, United States. Tybo is 8 mi northwest of USA Route 6 and 10 mi northeast of Warm Springs. The community was established in the 1870s as a silver mining town. Its name came from the Shoshone word tybbabo or tai-vu, meaning white mans district.
From 1872 to 1875 Tybo was a remarkable producer and game employment to several hundred men. The town of Tybo then had a population nearing the thousand mark, and had representation in almost every line of business.-Reno Gazette Journal, August 10, 1910. Wood was getting harder to get, although there was some talk of bringing in electricity.
