The Gold Coast Melanoma Clinic has been established as a centre of excellence for the diagnosis and management of melanoma and advanced skin cancers. Melanoma is the least common of the skin cancers but is the most dangerous if it is not found early.

If a melanoma comes back very close to the original one, this is known as a locally recurrent melanoma. Recurrent melanoma is usually treated with surgery. If there are a lot of recurrences it may be more difficult to remove them all with surgery.
If the melanoma is at an early stage, this is usually the only treatment that is needed and the chances of being cured are high.
