Great staff, we went to see the spider exhibit and the kids had a blast. There were live specimens and loads of activities for the kids to get hands on. Free storage for bags. All on all it was a very good experience. And for parents once you're done, there is the charming squire brewery down the street. We all had a blast
The first place to visit in the trio of museums. This one is definitely the most child friendly with plenty to see and learn about. For a non native the top floor with all the animals and insects of Australia is an amazing place to learn about the local wildlife. The recent NASA exhibition was well worth a visit although I'm not too sure about the current Spiders exhibition. Looking forward to seeing what they have next!
I always look out for the latest exhibition that's being presented at the museum. The latest is on Spiders. Took the grand kids, and the wife and I had an enjoyable few hours wandering around the exhibits taking in all the info that was on display. The displays are intended to be as interactive and user friendly as possible.
It was well attended on a weekday and by the volume of noise created by everyone - much enjoyed.
The youngster putting on the demonstration had obviously been around spiders for some time in his life. Allowing the Huntsman and Orb spiders to crawl up and down his arms was impressive. He was very knowledgeable and interacted well with the audience.
The rest of the museum is also very interesting with many Aussie exhibits on display.
There is always something fun to do and see at the Queensland Museum. Our family enjoys visiting the museum during school holidays to see the new exhibits. During our last visit on of our daughters pointed to an exotic display and said, " Oh wow! Imagine what that would be like if a Night in the Museum was real!" (Referring to the movie). It's great to see the imaginations of kids excited while learning and exploring new things. Even during school holidays!
It was honestly am awesome morning out with the family we spent about 2 hours wandering the museum and some of the exhibitions. There is currently one all about Aboriginal culture and didgeridoo which was interactive and amazing. There is also a spiders exhibit but that costs money to go into again it was a cool experience to see there were some live spiders on display as well
