Appin Colliery - Visitors Information Booklet - 1994/95. Situated approximately 70 kms south of Sydney. Started production in 1962. Works Bulli seam to depths up to 550 metres. Prime quality coking coal used at Pt Kembla and Newcastle or blended with other BHP coal for export to India, Turkey and England.

Appin Mine underground longwall mining operations are accessed from three surface locations: Appin North, Appin West and Appin East. Longwall (LW) 708B commenced mining on 24 April 2020 and had retreated 2260 m, to finish on 3 January 2022.
