24/04/2019 . NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers are on the ground today undertaking important hazard reduction burning around Sussex Inlet. The Cow Creek HR will help to protect a number of homes as well as assist firefighters in slowing the spread of a fire, should one occur in the future.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service crews are conducting a hazard reduction burn at Sandy Creek, south east of Bundanoon (Wingecaribee). North easterly winds will push smoke towards Goulburn, Canberra and surrounds. Smoke may settle across these areas overnight.

The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) is the lead combat agency for bush fires in NSW. For over 100 years we have been a significant part of the history and landscape of NSW. Working closely with other agencies we respond to a range of emergencies including structure fires, motor vehicle accidents and storms that occur within rural fire districts.
A Fire Control Centre forms the administrative and operational base of the rural fire district or zone. The coordination and management of local brigade responses to fire and other incidents is undertaken through the Fire Control Centre.
