For years and years Coogee beach, for me, has been the closest thing to a beach side town along the French Riviera. With its azure waters, silky sand, broad promenade and lively atmosphere how could it not be a favourite hang out?

There is a reason why locals have a soft spot for Café De France, it's delicious Parisian style French food in a casual setting. They have all the favourites, and by that we mean croissants, baguettes and crepes, plus they do a French twist on Aussie classics like the bacon and egg roll.
Rafaele Yon began her one-woman French colonisation of Coogee around the corner with Le Petit Cafe. Cafe de France continues to provide the area with early-morning options from a coffee and croissant or croque monsieur, to French twists on classics such as bacon-and-egg rolls with the addition of camembert.
Uncreatively titled though it is, Cafe De France does a great job of telling you what to expect. Surprise! French cafe food. The coffee is decent, if unremarkable. I always feel strange criticising French people on food. "Zis is 'ow it is supposed to be, idiote!" The food is delicious and buttery, with the coup de gras being the Croque Monsieur.
