About Our Sheep. Katahdin sheep are a hair sheep that shed annually and do not need to be sheared. They are hardy breed of sheep developed in Maine, United States. They do well in our Vermont winters. Our flock has a friendly temperament and a keen flocking instinct. They are natural mothers and most Katahdin ewes will have twins.
