The top surface of your slab should be about 5 inches off the ground. This will allow your siding to overhang about 1 inch, then provide a 4 inch gap between the ground and the untreated wood siding. This 4 inch gap is your best defense against termites and moisture getting to the shed. And often times this is in the building code.
Detail of formwork to edge of concrete shed base. Place the timber board in position and then secure it in place with either steel pins or 2x2 timber pegs. The steel pins are easiest to drive in place as 1 12 mm bar will go 200mm into the ground quite easily with a 4lb lump hammer.
To lay the concrete, pour a layer of concrete into the shed frame - spread it evenly and be sure that it goes into the corners and edges. We recommend applying the concrete one layer at a time until it overflows the frame slightly. While pouring the concrete, use the tamping board to compact the wet concrete.

Step 7: Mist the Gravel and Rebar with Water. Concrete gains strength through the chemical process of hydration as water combines with the Portland cement. There's a fine balance because you don't want too much water or too little. Before pouring the concrete, we misted the form and gravel with a hose.

For the same space but with concrete slabs, the costs will be £110 for supply costs. When added with the labour fees, this will equal £335. Looking at 8 by 10 metres next, pouring concrete will cost £249 for supply only. The labour added on will cost around £350, and total just under £600 when added together.
We are the official factory direct website for Nucrete Ltd, operating since 2004 with thousands of previous customers. How much do concrete garages cost? Concrete garages vary in cost from around £900 for a small concrete shed to £10,000+ for an all singing, all dancing large 'Elite' double garage.
