Staff are competent. It's a very busy ward, be prepared for long queues. The prenatal classes are excellent!

We were in the catchment so RPA ended being our hospital but I decided to give them a review for our experience.

The midwives who answers my wife's call on certain issues she may have have always been useful and was patient throughout the pregnancy.

Once we made a booking for expected delivery it was really easy when we did have to go to delivery. Dilation was 4 when we arrived in the morning which was lucky as we were admitted right away without much of a wait. We got our own delivery room which was awesome as it would be annoying sharing the experience with someone else. The nurses there were great, knowing exactly when get my wife to breathe, contract a little or a lot, and offering plenty of support throughout the delivery.

Once baby was delivered, we were to stay for another couple of hours. We had to meet with the paediatric doctor afterwards to be put into a machine to run some tests which seems fine.

Once we got our own room for our stay which we were able to get via private health it got interesting. We must had meet over 14 nurses in our week there. Most were good, but the annoying thing were that we were given so many different advices. The nurses there were really pro breast feeding which isn't any issue until it was 33 hours after birth before our kid even got any feed, which was formula anyway. If we had our time again we would had given him his feed much earlier as he suffered a development setback due to sleeping much of the first week away. He was able to progress when got him home. He was also in the nursery for 24/7 observations which didn't really help either as they were mainly just forcing baby to breastfeed. I would say give this a miss if it's related to latching and get home and to a clinic to help you out whilst still using formula.

Overall, I would listen to the nurses to an extent, but if you're baby is not able to sufficient latch I would only wait for the first six hours max before going on to formula. You can always express milk, but missing feeds risk not being able to meet milestones as they don't have energy.

My son had a long and complicated birth but the professionalism and support provided by all the staff we dealt with before, during and after delivery was amazing. They helped us through an at times quite stressful experience and I can't speak highly enough of them.
