Enjoyable and fairly flat walk once you reach the bottom, plenty of fern groves, forest areas and lyrebirds. Once you reach ruined castle, there is a climb of about 650m to the rock outcrops. Returning the same way, the stairs are tough but it is rewarding when you reach the top. Highly recommended walk. learn more.

Name: Evan (EvolutionQY71) Rating: 5 Comment: Brilliant and tranquil walking track. Some of the steps down can be a little small, narrow and slippery, but there's no huge off path experience required. Just make sure you have decent hiking boots on and plenty of water with you.
The walk to Ruined Castle should take about 2.5 to 3.5 hours in total (not including the time you spend enjoying the views from the top). It involves two steep climbs and a whole lot of easy walking in-between. If you want to stand on the castle itself you will need to negotiate one very short scramble (via the easiest access route).
There is a nice old man walking the Blue Mountains by himself to stop the voices in his head. Don't let him into your car. 12. Come Back for Mount Solitary. If you keep going on the track after the steps to the Ruined Castle, you will meet a campsite, and in the distance will be the glorious Mount Solitary.
