Friday night dinner. Asian themed modern Australian food. Started with mussels in a red curry-ish sauce which was nice although the salad was hiding the mussels served. Duck leg was cooked well with Asian greens and trout was also nicely steamed. All dishes have an abundance of shallots or other greens which are nice but a bit much. Service started out fine but flagged towards the end and not in keeping with the price. So not a bad option in blackheath but might try other options next time.
We regularly make the visit from Sydney to Blackheath solely to sample the exquisite delights on offer at Fumo Blackheath. The food and service are exceptional. A visit to Fumo is a must when in the Blue Mountains region. Flawless.
On our one night in Blackheath, we stumbled upon Fumo and had the food experience of the year. And its unlikely anything will top it.
The mussels were full of the most delicate yet decadent flavours. The pork belly salad was a textural circus and the flavours balanced at an acrobatic level.
After the entrees, we could have left delightfully satisfied however we eagerly stayed.
The trout as a main, literally brought a tear to my eye. No fancy words here, it was just that good. The vegetable curry with rice pancake was abundantly detailed in ingredients and and left my partner feeling somehow joyful.
And then dessert....we almost left without trying the signature Bombe ice-cream. Thankfully Joe insisted. How amazing it was can only be portrayed using the exact words my partner used on her first mouthful. They were, "OMFG!".
If you're in Blackheath and you love food, Fumo is a must. Enjoy!
Amazing attentive service, wines matched to the foods, every item full of flavor. Try the pickles to start your night! Can’t go past the double cooked duck.
My wife and I dropped in without a booking for a light Sunday afternoon lunch after reading the interesting menu online which features Asian ingredients leaning heavily towards Japanese flavours. Both the vegetarian entree and mains we shared were superb. Packed with flavour. Can't wait to try more of their menu items some other time. The service was friendly and knowledgeable.
Bombe Icecream Slice at Fumo Blackheath This dessert was legendary. Flavours of raspberry, pineapple, almond praline, black pepper ice-cream and possibly more. The whole meal was absolutely delicious. #fumoblackheath #blackheathrestaurant #bombedessert.
