Excellent as always a good variety of different painting styles and artists. Not a great fan of cubism but liked the Picasso and Matisse exhibition. Found there was a lot of their work that I liked, especially Matisse who seemed to me to have a softer touch.
Love coming here each year, great expos of famous paintings. Loved Monet, now Matisse and Picasso. Well done guys at the museum, love it! Well organised and displayed. Take your time and observe the master pieces. Amazing!
So interesting from the moment I entered the building. Came to see the Picasso Matisse exhibition. Pity no portraits of early Picasso. His style changed so radically from his early works. Viewing Matisse works one could see what his more favorite pieces were as details became finished. All in all definitely worth a visit.
Also viewed HUGH RAMSEY works which were truly stunning. The body form beautifully detailed even to the veins on hands etc. He certainly was an amazingly skilled artist a talent that takes your breath away. I highly recommend a visit to view the HUGH RAMSEY exhibition.
It's a great space but have had mixed experiences with little ones. Some staff members are helpful and happy to allow young kids to appreciate the art with me, but some have been overly protective to the point where I was uncomfortable. Great to visit, just wish it was welcoming all the time.
It was way more modern than I expected and there were many great works displayed. The architecture of the whole place is pretty incredible as well with little windows and nooks that accentuated the uniqueness of the building. We didn't stay too long so we were running around a little, but you could easily spend hours here. There are also great sculptures around outside of the Gallery so don't forget to allow time for a stroll after.
